Jamie & Lucien | September 12, 2020 | New England Wedding Photographer

Jamie and Lucien took a difficult situation and turned it into a beautiful micro wedding. With a guest list limited to about twenty of their nearest and dearest, they are a prime example in how to make a small wedding into an unforgettable event. I know that for many couples weddings this year did not go as planned if they even happened at all, but truly, there is something so special about an intimate family wedding that starts at home and is celebrated locally with your closest loved ones. Couples today planning their weddings are not looking towards glossy bridal magazines for inspiration, but rather their own unique hobbies and interests to inspire their special day, making modern micro weddings deeply personal and memorable.

Jamie started the day by visiting a local salon for her hair styling then made her way to her maid of honor’s home to get ready with her mother and bridesmaids while Lucien prepped for the day at their apartment. He donned Deadpool cuff links and Star Wars socks as personal touches to his suit for the big day. With a hint of purple in her hair, Jamie, like many modern brides did her own makeup beautifully. She headed to their new venue, the lovely local Primavera Restaurant in Millis, Massachusetts, to get dressed and to prepare for the first look.

Jamie’s engagement ring was made from her grandmother’s engagement ring, with the diamond in a new band. Their wedding rings were customized by the creative Staghead Designs using whisky barrels for the unique wooden details. Before the ceremony, Lucien and Jamie did a first look at the grand entrance of Primavera at the staircase. In all my years capturing first looks, Lucien’s reaction to seeing Jamie is something I will never forget. He repeatedly told her that she was so beautiful and kept telling her repeatedly throughout the day. Every bridge dreams of being this adored on her wedding day. When walking down the aisle, Jamie carried her grandmother’s handkerchief, the very same one that her grandmother carried with her when she was married.

The ceremony took place outdoors on the most beautiful early autumn day in the gazebo behind the restaurant. Guests graciously wore masks to be able to attend this special moment. While they enjoyed the cocktail hour we ventured out to a nearby park for some photos right as the sun set and made it back for a night of dancing and a wonderful meal. Jamie wore a stunning shawl wrap that she made herself and matched the gorgeous bridal colors of her bouquet. Every detail that you see at the reception was hand made by Jamie and Lucien themselves from the wooden “guestbook” to the candle centerpieces. It may not have been the wedding that they had expected, but it was every bit the love-filled wedding that they deserved. Congratulations, Jamie and Lucien!
