Christina and Sean’s wedding at the Inn at Mystic turned into the most beautiful day. Their original wedding date was set for this past spring and they had to push it back for fall because of the pandemic. Their micro wedding was meant to be because their original wedding date was rained out and such a grey and stormy day. Instead, we ended up with the most perfect early autumn wedding on the shoreline at the Inn at Mystic. I know how hard the wedding postponements have been for my couples and Christina and Sean handled this impossible situation with such grace. Their wedding event coordinator, Jen of Jen Strunk Events, pulled together a picture perfect wedding day after changes had to be made for their reception venue, decorating and catering.

The day was one of the brightest and sunniest weddings I have had the honor of photographing this year. The salty air from the shore added to the picturesque setting. The ceremony took place at the historic Pequot Chapel in New London and the reception took place at Haley Mansion at the Inn at Mystic. With Christina’s permission I shared some of the funny outtakes and moments caught in between from getting ready to the dance floor. In the past I usually saved those for the USB, but I felt that this year more than ever, it would be fun to share not just the picture perfect moments, but the fun behind the scenes images that rarely make it to the blog post. From the faces we make when our makeup is being done to unflattering dance moves, I’m sharing it all this year. I’m sure that the lockdowns this year made weddings all the more enjoyable, treasured, and yes, rowdy on the dance floor. I am also sharing more reception and dancing images that I have in the past. I used to put so much pressure on myself to share only the best of the best images, but I am a storyteller at heart and often the best moments are not those that are “picture perfect,” or planned.

The Live Lovely Photography wedding style has always been photojournalistic and I hope that I was able to share the behind the scenes moments that made Christina and Sean’s wedding so very special. Congratulations, Christina and Sean! I am so very happy for you. And just like your cake topper says, “Finally Mr. and Mrs.!”
