Ashley and John were married this October at the Whiteface Club & Resort in Lake Placid, New York. The ceremony took place right on the water in front of their closest family and friends. After the ceremony and cocktail hour at the boat house, there was a beautiful sunset boat ride across the lake. It was a memorable experience. Although it was a cold autumn day, the sun shined the whole day through.
It was a joy working with Ashley and John and their supportive bridal party. A week before the wedding John was in an accident and we are all so grateful that he is ok. With fractures and broken bones, he managed to stand at the alter to share his vows with the woman he loves. The bridal party deserves an extra shout out for the way they supported John and Ashley throughout the day. Because there were limitations due to John’s injuries, we decided to take photos for their first anniversary next autumn and I am looking forward to returning to Lake Placid with John and Ashley to relive all these beautiful memories!
Ashley planned so many intricate details for her special day in the mountains. This blog post is a compilation of those moments and highlight of the day. There are so many more photos that did not make the blog post, but I hope that I was able to share a fraction of the joy of their day. Ashley and John, congratulations. I am so happy for you both!
Here is the story of their Lake Placid wedding from getting ready to the sparkler send off at their reception:
While Ashley and her crew were getting ready at the Whiteface Club, John and the guys were getting ready back at the Airbnb.
Ashley did the sweetest first look with her step-father before the ceremony.
Ashley’s brother, Steve, was the officiant for the wedding! He did a wonderful job bringing heart and laughter to the ceremony.
The ceremony location was bright and sunny. The flowers by Rebecca of Becca’s Garden brought the ceremony decor to new heights.
Drone images by Matt of Worlds of Discovery show just how vast this lake is from above, capturing the ceremony below all the way to the mountains in the distance.
Meanwhile, back at the boat house, guests were enjoying the cocktail hour. Ashley and John returned in time to join in the festivities.
Specialty drinks were served named after their family pets.
How magical and romantic is this moment when Ashley and John left the dock for their sunset boat ride?!
Back at the resort, the venue was set up for a celebration.
Ashley’s mother and step-father sang a song dedicated to them.
Mid-reception, Ashley returned in an outfit change. How adorable is this bridal jumpsuit? The perfect outfit to dance in.
Congratulations to Ashley and John! Wishing you both every happiness.
