Alyssa & Nick’s Wedding | Villa Di Maiano | Italy Destination Wedding Photographer

Congratulations, Alyssa and Nick!

I know there has been a lot of anticipation for this day and the photos too. Back in 2018, I ran into Nick at a wedding expo we were both showing in. Nick’s booth was straight across from mine and we chatted about their exciting destination wedding plans throughout the day. Several months before I had met Alyssa and Nick at another gathering at my sister’s home and running into each other again at the wedding expo was such a fun moment. By the end of the show Nick was telling clients at his booth that I was his photographer. I really have to thank my sister, Jennifer, for this connection because it lead us all on an unexpected and beautiful adventure. Back then we had no idea that their wedding plans for 2020 would take the turn that they did or just how anticipated this wedding would become.

In April of 2019 we took engagement photos at a beach in Milford on a foggy spring day. Three years later we were attending the highly anticipated event of the season; Nick and Alyssa’s big day at the beautiful Villa Di Maiano in Florence, Italy. Pushing the wedding back two years in a row, guest were over the moon to attend. Friends and family had flown and traveled from across the United States and Italy to be there for this very special day.

The long anticipation made the day all the more beautiful. The sun was shining bright and the sky was a lovely eggshell blue, making the vibrant yellow walls of the Villa Di Maiano pop against the backdrop of the landscape. This stunning villa has stood here in these Tuscan hills since the 15th century and has witnessed so many occasions. Wedding guests were dressed in their finest clothes. The fabric hanging from the tree boughs for the ceremony fluttered gently in the wind. Everything about Alyssa and Nick’s wedding day appeared all the more beautiful because of how much love an planning had gone into every detail.

Nick and Alyssa, it has been such an honor to document your day and join your grand journey through Tuscany. We are thankful to have been the photographers to document your wedding day. I have included an abundance of photographs that I believe depict the story of your day. We took over seven thousand images from getting ready until the end of the reception and have narrowed down the images to the best moments of the day. These are but a small selection of images that I feel captures the emotions and chronicles your wedding. I hope you enjoy this visual journey through your wedding day in Fiesole, Firenze, Toscana.

While Nick and the groomsmen were getting ready back in the villa, Alyssa and her crew were getting ready at a small hotel down the road from the Villa Di Maiano.

Alyssa and her bridesmaids had the most darling matching sage green robes.

Back in the villa, the groomsmen were enjoying a different kind of wedding morning with a cook out before making the long drive to the Villa Di Maiano in Fiesole.

If this room looks familiar, you may recognize it from the famous film, A Room With A View.

Maid of Honor, Nicole, had a special surprise for Alyssa before her big moment of the day.

And just like that, it was almost time for the first look before the ceremony was to begin.

The mutual adoration in these photos…

The ceremony took place in the garden next to the villa, under the shade of these beautiful trees, overlooking the hills and the city of Florence.

While guests mingled and ate appetizers in the lower gardens, Nick and Alyssa were taking family portraits by the ceremony location.

This old wine cave is were the reception dancing and festivities took place.

The dinner table was set on the balcony overlooking the gardens and this stunning view of the city at sunset.

Every detail was beautifully thought out.

The official name for a traditional Italian wedding cake is millefoglie. Made with many layers of puff pastry, pastry cream, fresh fruit, and powdered sugar, it is typically made by the bride or groom at the wedding as a sign of their union. It was quite a delight for Alyssa and Nick as well as the guests to see one being made by these professional bakers who applied each layer with precision.

Time to party!

If you look closely, you will see that Nick’s wedding band has a thoughtful engraving of their wedding venue and date inside the band.

I could only fit so many photos into this post. If you were on the dance floor, but do not see yourself here or were in family portraits, there are simply too many photos to share in this blog post, but Nick and Alyssa will receive the full collection. This is but a highlight of a great night.

Congratulations, Alyssa and Nick! Linked below are the people and wedding vendors that made Nick and Alyssa’s big day possible. I have included links if you would like to follow them on Instagram and support their businesses. Please leave a comment for Alyssa and Nick in the comments below.
