Alyssa & Nick | Florence Photo Shoot | Italy Destination Photographer

The day before their wedding, Alyssa and Nick met up with Matthew and I at the Piazalle Michelangelo right after sunrise for photos overlooking the city of Florence. The sun was already shining bright and the temperature was creeping up (it would later heat up to nearly one hundred degrees Fahrenheit that day). The night before they had celebrated their rehearsal with their closest friends and family at a pizza restaurant north of Florence.

Our goal was to arrive early enough to beat the heat, bright sun, and the crowds, which we were only slightly successful. If you are visiting a European city I highly suggest making it out early one morning to take in the sights before the bustle of the day unfolds, especially in the peek of summertime heat. We chose this piazza because of the stunning view of Florence and eventually made our way on foot down the hill into the city center to capture photographs in front of the Duomo, more formally known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.  This architectural masterpiece was started in 1296 and completed a couple hundred years later in 1436. This is a city of rich history and beautiful art. It is no wonder why is is such a destination for couples in love.

The photo shoot ended overlooking the Ponte Vecchio Bridge over the Arno River. This bridge has numerous shops and bodegas all along both sides as people cross and first opened to the public in 1345. I hope you enjoy these photos of Alyssa and Nick and this little tour of the city that they both love so dearly.

Nick and Alyssa, congratulations to you both. I hope that your once-in-a-lifetime destination wedding was the experience you always wanted and that you make it back to Florence time and time again to relive all those beautiful memories. Matthew and I are thankful to have been there to capture moments like these.
