Courtney & Ben | Lake Morey Resort Wedding | Vermont Wedding | August 7, 2021

Courtney and Ben were married on August 7th at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairly, Vermont. I adored their choice in venue because their closest family and friends were all able to stay in one place at the resort and spend quality time together at the rehearsal dinner in the garden the night before and breakfast the morning after. The ceremony took place in the back of the resort’s main building in front of the lovely Lake Morey. A popular destination for ice skaters come winter, Lake Morey is a beautiful New England hidden gem for summer fun and summer weddings. Their day of coordinator, Melissa Seavor at Lake Morey Resort, was a phenomenal coordinator who was there behind the scenes to ensure that Ben and Courtney had the most perfect day. I am so blessed to be able to call Courtney and Ben my friends and I was thankful for the opportunity to celebrate with them and to be able to take their wedding photos.

While the ladies awaited hours of hair and makeup inside the resort, Ben and his groomsmen enjoyed some leisure time out on the resort bicycles and cycled a path around the lake.

Back inside the resort the girls were getting ready for the day, reminiscing, and drinking mimosas.

Meanwhile, the guys had returned from their bike ride on this hot day and took a dip in the lake.

The room the ladies were getting ready in had no window light, but the blessing in a dark room is that it gave us the darkness required for an epic hair spray shot.

Looking dapper, Ben!

Courtney’s sister and Maid of Honor, Ashley, helped Courtney get dressed and put on the final touches.

The skies had been overcast for most of the day, but right as the ceremony was set to begin the sun came out from behind the clouds. I know that on a hot summer’s day standing in bright sun is not always the most ideal situation when you’re in a big gown or a suit (nor is it every photographers favorite situation to photograph in direct sun), but I have always seen it as a blessing when the sun peeks out during the ceremony on an otherwise cloudy day. The ceremony itself took place under this gorgeous flowered arch.

When it came time for the rings we all had a friendly chuckle as Ben’s brother and Best Man, Henry, had to go digging deep into his pockets to find where the rings had fallen.

Ben and his sisters made these stunning boat name cards themselves!

Ben has a bee keeping hobby and he harvested these honey wedding favors himself!

After their first dance, Ben and Courtney had a special surprise. Courtney’s brother Brad and her sister-in-law Nicole were married last year during the pandemic. Because their micorwedding was so small they did not have a first dance with all of their family in attendance. Courtney and Ben gave them their own first dance with all of their loved ones.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the entire room.

Henry’s best man speech came with a funny surprise ending! He pulled out a hanky to dry his eyes and the hankies just kept coming.

Time to party and party they did!

Ladies and gentlemen, my husband’s signature wedding dance move. Matthew was a groomsman for Ben and Courtney’s wedding and he also helped me a lot throughout the day behind the scenes.

Showing off those cool groomsmen socks.

Congratulations Courtney and Ben! It was an absolute honor spending the day with you!
