“Live Lovely” is my life’s manifesto. We have an infinite amount of time in this world and I truly believe in making the most of every moment. I am an archivist and I document these moments to create enduring, timeless, and candid images. I am a positive-photojournalist, a term I coined for myself as a wedding and destination photographer and lifestyle travel blogger.
Photography has been my passion ever since I won my first 35mm film camera in a kindergarden fundraiser when I was five-years-old. It was a little purple plastic thing the size of an animal cracker box. That passion grew in high school when I took my first black & white photography class. With the intention of becoming a photojournalist like my teen idol, Dan Eldon. I became a photographic documenter of my life and the lives of the people closest to me (including the cats). Those skills brought me to Cazenovia College and eventually Canterbury Christ Church University in Canterbury, England. In 2012 I graduated with a BFA specializing in photography and minoring in journalism and art history.
I have infused my love of photography, my passion for adventure, my hobby of writing, and adoration for simple living to create a unique business for myself: Wedding and destination photography with lifestyle photojournalism. I travel for local and destination weddings, engagements, boudoir, and maternity shoots and I love sharing photographs of the places I visit.
A Year of Living Lovely
Starting 2018, I am putting my life’s manifesto to practice every single day. I will be taking the steps to live a lovelier life right here and now, focusing on a single goal regarding a certain aspect of my life each month. Join me and the journey by contacting me to join the mailing list. I will be posting weekly or bi-weekly posts about my Year of Living Lovely project and I will also be sharing ideas to inspire your own. Learn more about A Year of Living Lovely here.
Yet, not all of my travel is far. I believe that there are adventures to be had right outside your own front door. At the moment my fiancé Matthew and I are saving up for our own wedding. We both have large families and we want our loved ones to attend so most of our savings are going towards the wedding and honeymoon. For now, it slows down our international travel.
Last year I found a gorgeous book about France with amazing photos and personal stories by the photographer. While looking at the photos I realized that there are many beautiful places right here at my home base in Connecticut. People travel from all over the world to visit New England, especially in the summer and autumn. Instead of daydreaming about far off places that I cannot afford to fly to just now, I made a wish list of all the local places that I love or want to visit. I am living for today and appreciating the life that I have right now. I started making the posts in the fall of 2016 to share experiences that my friends overseas can perhaps use in their trip planning, as well as to inspire my local New Englanders to get out and explore. It satisfies my wanderlust and the photojournalist inside me. Truly, it makes my soul happy!
Most of my travel posts are from my home state of Connecticut, and Connecticut sure does have a lot of charm. A beautiful seashore, over 300 lakes and ponds, lovely mountains for hiking, gorgeous small towns, museums, libraries, cafes, places to eat, and fabulous cities. I will also be photographing a series of New England posts as I explore other places in New England. Travel around other states and countries will follow.
I also have a “live lovely” list. Many people may have a list of their own, often called a life goal list. I often document these adventures, both big and small on my blog, like my goal to fly a plane which I accomplished on my birthday this year.
I hope you enjoy the content on Live Lovely. I love comments and hearing from readers about things you love and posts that you may want to see. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, head over to my “contact me.” I am working on a goal to photograph a wedding in every single U.S. state, so if you’re from out of Connecticut and I have not photographed a wedding in your state before, you may be eligible for a special discount. Thank you for being a positive part of my community!
